A Practical AI Checklist Before You Add a Chatbot to Your Website

A chatbot is the most requested AI feature we hear — and often the least useful. If your pages are unclear, the bot will guess. If your staff cannot answer the same questions, the bot will make them up.

Before we add one to a SetsTech site, we run a short list. Most businesses fail the first three items. That is fine. Fix those, then talk about chat.

Can a human find the answer on the site today?

Opening hours, areas, prices if you publish them, how to start. If that is missing, write the pages. A bot that invents a price is worse than no bot.

Who owns the transcript?

Someone must read failed chats every week. If nobody will, do not install it. You will train customers to get nonsense and then ring you angry.

Is it allowed to say “I don’t know”?

For law, care, immigration, money — the bot should hand over. “I don’t know, here is the form / the number to email” is a feature. Confident wrong answers are not.

Is there a quieter option?

A better form, a booking slot, or a searchable FAQ often beats a chat bubble. We would rather you convert than look modern.

Read more on the industries we build for, or send the URL of your current site and we will say if a chatbot would help, or just add noise.
